Italy has a lot of churches as well in the country side. In Rome a lot of things were changing after the middle age. The Vatican in Rome restored a lot of churches in the XVI- XVII centuries and the new architectural style, the baroque, was used to change the most important building of the city. To do this, were used the old building dating back to the middle age and to the roman period. So these are originally many years old but only 300-400 years old in reality! In the little town of the country side the buildings and the curches are not changed like in Rome. So a lot of this places are dating back to the most old periods of our history...
