The middle ages tour start in general at 8.00 pm and it is about 8 hours long.
Viterbo
Viterbo was an important Etrusian centre before falling to the romans. In the 13th century became the papal seat.During world war two was devastated but the city and many
towers, the walls and the curches have been restored very good. |
|
| So, Viterbo is a medioeval town and is preserved at the best.Arches, towers, external staircases, narrow street running between little piazzas and fountains.Walking in to the narrow street,is like to walk in the past. |
|
The palazzo papale (13th century) with a beautiful carved loggia, was built for popes on their visit to the city. The palace is still there to
be visited and is very emotional to stay in the loggia.
|
|
San Pellegrino quarter, is the most enjoyable
and the perfect example how is preserved the
ancient city.People still living in the ancient houses and they take care a lot about it with
a lot of pride.Take a look inside the houses's gate is like to take a look in the middle ages. |

Although shaken by an earthquake in the 1971,its medioeval buildingsn churches and towes and walls have been carefully reconstructed. |
|
Out the walls of Tuscania is the church of S.Peter dating on the 10th century (romanesque period). The church is really beautiful and is builted in volcan stone.
Inside are many Etruscans sarcophagi and
on the facade is an intricately inlaid rose window with demon and angelic simbolism.
